Dollars That Make Sense
This animated film was Produced by Elizabeth Killough (Co-CEO of the UnTours Foundation)
and Rich Hoffmann (Founder and Director of 215 Timelapse) outside of Philadelphia, PA, USA
with a small team of origami artists, musicians, and animators.
Over a trillion dollars sit in foundation endowments most often working against those
foundations’ very missions. It’s an outlandish system that foundations use only 5% of their
assets annually to address their missions, investing the other 95% with no regard to their
missions losing a tremendous opportunity for more impact.
Where else in life is 5% considered enough? By bringing the numbers to light through this fun film, we hope to gain the attention of foundations and donors to change this paradigm.
Foundations are praised for the good things they support. But people need to see the dark side
of foundations and inspire foundations to activate the other 95% to fulfil their missions and help
solve the crises our planet and people are facing.
Money has power, and we need to direct that power for good and not abandon the
opportunity to do so.
